Guinea pigs are rodents that are sometimes referred to as cavies. They were introduced to Europe in the 16th century, and are popular pets due to their docile nature. They eat grass or Alfafa hay. Guinea pigs can obtain vitamin C (which they cannot make themselves) from eating broccoli, celery, carrots, spinach or apples. Guinea pigs whistle when they want food, and they dont mind being picked up and carried.
